The Sigma III releases very small amounts of Copper and Silver into your water electronically. Copper kills algae and prevents its growth. In fact, many chemical algaecides that are added to chlorine pools for the purpose of algae control, are Copper based. Silver, on the other hand, kills bacteria and also prevents its growth. By using these two natural elements, you are able to accomplish the same job as chlorine, but without the harmful side effects.
